Message From the Director Innovation, Incubation & Enterprise Development

Dr. Abraham Rotich

We welcome you to the Directorate of Innovation, Incubation and Enterprise Development. This directorate is mandated to stimulate innovation among our students, staff and the public resulting into commercialization of viable ideas and creation of employment opportunities. We recognize the importance of safeguarding intellectual property rights for all stakeholders within our academic milieu. Furthermore, our vision extends beyond the confines of our university walls. We aspire to position our institution not only as a generator of innovations but also as a vital dissemination point for ground breaking solutions and technologies. By forging strategic partnerships and fostering a culture of knowledge exchange, we aim to catalyse societal impact and drive positive change on a global scale.

Our directorate in specifically charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among staff and students at KCA University
  • Supporting, training, coaching, mentorship, and seed funding of the tech start-up ventures
  • Supporting the commercialization of KCA University innovations
  • Disseminating available information about entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship and upcoming workshops, trainings and webinars
  • Assisting innovators to manage their intellectual assets in ways that facilitate their transformation into benefit for society
  • Facilitating the formation of university-connected companies in utilizing university’s technology (start-up) and university people (spin-off) to enhance prospects of further development
  • Overseeing the growth and development of innovation and technology hubs in the university
  • Blending academic training and research with entrepreneurship
  • Working with other units in the university and support stakeholders to ensure venture capital programs reach KCAU’s scale-up companies
  • Seeking to position KCA University as an international incubation hub
