We tend to:

  • Link the student ventures and projects to support organizations
  • Support, training, coaching, mentorship, and seed funding of the tech startup ventures.
  • Provide opportunities for exploring coding, technology, and cybersecurity through organizing boot camps and seminars.
  • Increase opportunities that require students to apply knowledge and skills within and across disciplines to innovate and solve real-world problems.
  • Incubating selected high impact tech innovations and projects subject to availability of space and other resource capacity.

Innovation Talks:

A two-day boot camp was held on July 15 and 16, 2022. This initiative was started by SheHacks KE in partnership with AfricaHackon and Safaricom to give students the technical skills they need to start successful careers in cybersecurity.
For the two-day boot camp series, industry legends and a team of experts in cybersecurity and familiarity with societal challenges were assembled to impart knowledge and provide guidance. Day 1 of instruction focused on teaching students the fundamentals of network security and cryptography.

The objective of the business plan competition is for participants to create and submit an original idea or finish their current business plan in accordance with detailed instructions provided.

Funding Support :

As part of any new start-up, many entrepreneurs will be keen to seek funding to help them get their ideas off the ground. The Startup Incubator strives to support entrepreneurs with their new or existing ventures via the following routes:

  • I.T.T Innovation’s Startup Incubator team is working collaboratively with an ‘Investor panel’ which aims to supply funding and services to Incubator supported start-ups.
  • Access to E.I.T.T’s Angels Network events with the opportunity to present on stage pending approval Of E.I.T.T Innovation Seed Investment Manager  (no fee required)
  • Access to a wider KCA University Innovation investment network on a per-case basis
  • Support in grant funding applications

>> Pre-Incorporated Trading

In order to allow incubator ventures to focus on building a minimum viable product and achieve initial commercial traction, rather than focusing on the overheads associated with incorporating and running a limited company, the Startup Incubator can allow ventures to operate in a ‘pre-incorporated’ mode for a period of up to … months.
This provides an incubated venture the ability to start trading instantly using the business processes available through the E.I.T.T Center.

>> Brand & Marketing

  • Assistance from E.I.T.T. through its marketing-savvy partners, specifically regarding press release strategy and execution
  • Introduction to sector-specific journalists and coverage in articles featuring the Startup Incubator
  • Ventures are featured on the Startup Incubator website, and can embed it’s logo into their own website and marketing material and refer to themselves as a Startup Incubator startup KCA University startup
  • Facilitation of a (free) license from KCA University  if the venture wishes to use the word “KCA University” in its name

What is IP?  – Intellectual property is about the creations of the mind, and it comes in many forms. So, whether you have just discovered something new through your research, you’ve come up with a great new idea or process, you’ve written a book, music or software, or you have actually created a time machine, you will have created some intellectual property.
