Background of the call

The KCA University Vision and Strategic Plan identifies Research, Innovation, Outreach and product development as one of its core growth and development pillars. The University, therefore, remains committed to support staff and students to engage in creative research to generate innovations for both local and international markets for sustainability. 
The University through the Division of Research, Innovation and Outreach Division is, therefore, pleased to announce a call for innovative project proposals to be supported under the 2024/2025 Vice Chancellor  & CEO’s Research and Innovations Grant.

Objective of the call

The objective of this call is to stimulate the development of new products, services, processes, models and systems or improvement of existing products and process in-line with the University Vision, Mission as well as attainment of Kenya Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The call also underscores the commitment of the University as a member of the commercialization and entrepreneurial institutions in Kenya (KeNIA) that is currently participating in the R2C accelerator program

Scope of the 2024/2025 call

The 2024/2025 call will focus on the following thematic areas:

  • Business and Governance
  • Quality Education, creative economy and life-long learning
  • Health and Well-being
  • Safety, Security and Peace
  • Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Entrepreneurship and poverty eradication
  • Natural Resources and Climate Action
  • Agriculture, Food Security, and Blue Economy
  •  

Eligibility

Applicants are advised to read the eligibility criteria for Vice-Chancellor & CEO’s Research
and Innovation Grant available in the University website

Grant Ceiling

The maximum amount of grant funding for innovative projects shall be determined by the scope and viability of the proposed innovative project. The grant shall be awarded for a maximum of 1-year subject to availability of resources and submission of satisfactory technical and financial reports.
