KCA University and the University of South Africa (UNISA) held a collaborative meeting on Monday, 25th September 2023, to deliberate on potential avenues for strategic collaboration in areas of teaching, research, and outreach. This joint initiative seeks to strengthen academic and research ties between the two institutions, opening new avenues for mutual growth and knowledge sharing.
The KCA University team, spearheading the discussion, was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Outreach (RIO), Prof. Vincent Onywera. On the other hand, the UNISA delegation was led by the distinguished Executive Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Prof. Tennyson Mgutshini. The convergence of these academic leaders marked the beginning of a promising partnership with far-reaching implications for the academic community.
During the meeting, both institutions explored a range of strategic priorities emphasizing the potential for collaboration in diverse areas.
Key areas of focus included the exchange of faculty, professional staff, researchers, and students. This propsed partnership also encompasses joint research projects, the exchange of academic resources, collaborative proposal writing, capacity-building initiatives, and the elevation of co-curricular activities.
The collaboration furthers aims to facilitate the exchange of best practices in Open and Distance Learning, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing educational methodologies and promoting innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
