KCA University recently concluded its highly anticipated Innovation Week and Industry Summit, which showcased a range of ground-breaking ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. The event, held at the university’s main campus in Ruaraka from 30th October to 2nd November 2023, culminated in the recognition of top innovators who participated in the business plan writing and hackathon competitions.
The Business Plan competition, a focal point of the event, garnered significant attention as it attracted 20 innovative entries. These entries underwent an intensive three-day screening process and business boot camp organized by the Association of Star-tup and SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK).
Following this rigorous selection process, seven exceptional plans were chosen and presented before a distinguished panel of judges for the final evaluation. Simultaneously, the Hackathon competition, an exhilarating showcase of tech-savvy minds, witnessed the participation of 35 ambitious entries.
Participants in this category received specialized training in user interface and user experience design, generously supported by Moringa School. From the pool of 35 entries, 13 outstanding presentations were featured during the grand finale of the event. During the momentous ceremony, the top three most exceptional ideas were honored, with the ultimate winner seizing the prestigious title along with a handsome prize of Ksh20000. The awards were sponsored by Safaricom, emphasizing the critical role of corporate support in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
The Innovation Week and Industry Summit served as a testament to KCA University’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, providing a platform for emerging entrepreneurs and visionaries to showcase their talents and contribute to the dynamic landscape of Kenya’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
With the resounding success of this year’s event, the university continues to solidify its position as a pivotal hub for nurturing and celebrating innovation in the region.
