Profile

I have an educational background in ICT having achieved Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). I also have over fifteen years’ progressive responsible work experience with slightly over twelve years’ experience as a Programs Coordinator at KCA University, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Leadership and Institute for Capacity Development the executive business wing and currently at the newly created division of Research, Innovation and Outreach.

Yvonne is also an Associate Member (AIMIS-UK) having attained a Higher Diploma from IMIS-UK. I am passionate about solving societal challenges among the less disadvantaged people in the community that is the women and youth.

She has worked with youth/women-led SMEs in supporting growth, technology, research, development training and policy formulation hence driving job creation and prosperity.

Yvonne is presently working as a Programs Officer at the newly created division of Research, Innovation and Outreach.

Notable Achievements;

  • Successful KCA University inaugural Interdisciplinary Conference on Innovation and Sustainability- 2022
  • In 2015, 2016 and 2017 I successfully developed a women’s empowerment program WiFEL (Women in Finance Entrepreneurship & Leadership which attracted a number of women associations who we partnered with; OWIT, AWAK, Women on Board, UN-Women.
  • In 2016, we also came up with an Entrepreneurs Educators program compared to the one from Babson College in the US and EIMLS (Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management and Leadership)– Symposium was held in Mombasa and we had speakers from University of Stockholm and Global Business Leaders (GBL) Sweden. We later signed on a working MOU with them.
  • In 2016/2017 we won Provision of consultancy services on Youth Entrepreneurship and Basic Business Skills Training Programme (CGK/040/ED/2015/2016 (Kisumu County) we successfully trained over 2700 people across the five wards in Kisumu county on basic entrepreneurship skills and financial literacy.
  • IN 2019, I developed TWIT (The Women in IT) proposal that saw accomplished women in ICT in Kenya break the glass ceiling. We also successfully held our first-ever hackathon that was sponsored and supported by our partners including Telkom Kenya, Software Technologies Ltd, Andela, Facebook, Moringa school, Ministry of ICT, and ICT Authority, the function was presided over by the then PS Jerome Ochieng.
  • In 2012 KCA University, EASEN and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) partnered and conducted a study on the ‘Constructs of Successful and Sustainable SME Leadership in East Africa.
  • TOP 25 under 25, we partnered with Youthfund, BIDCO, and KNCCI and successfully delivered the best top 25 under the age of 25 entrepreneurs nationwide in 2015/2015
  • We successfully developed two proposals that got grants that were funded. i.e. investing in the Kenyan Youth for posterity under a tripartite partnership between KCA University, CiC Insurance company and ABCIC in the areas of research, teaching, capacity building and community service. We did financial training for micro-enterprises in five towns.
  • We worked on a grant with WERK on Education for pastoralists that is enhancing numeracy, reading and writing skills among the MAA community in Kajiado.
  • Over the years we have been working with Africa Youth Trust on a Youth Employment Initiative in Nairobi. We majored in networking, advocacy, training and counselling.
  • Worked with Ujamaa and Asante Mama in training mama mbogas in Kibera, Korogocho, Mathare and Kayole on basic financial literacy, 4Ps of marketing and simple book-keeping.
