Message From Director

Dr. Jane Wangari NjuruThe establishment of KCA University’s new Center for Climate Change Action (CCCA) marks a significant step in our commitment to addressing the urgent and complex challenges posed by climate change. As the Director of this center, I am honoured to lead an initiative that aligns with both the global imperative for decisive climate action and our university’s mission to contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
The CCCA is envisioned as a dynamic and inclusive platform that brings together experts, students, and community members to collaborate on innovative solutions to climate change. Our dual focus is on mitigating the impacts of climate change and helping communities adapt to its inevitable effects. Through research, education, and community engagement, the CCCA aspires to be a leader in promoting sustainable practices and policies at the local, national, and international levels.
Recognizing that climate change is a collective responsibility, the CCCA is dedicated to fostering a shared sense of purpose among all stakeholders. We believe that effective climate action requires the participation of diverse voices and perspectives, and we are committed to cultivating an environment where collaboration and innovation thrive. Whether through interdisciplinary research projects, public seminars, or community outreach programs, the CCCA will work tirelessly to ensure that our efforts are impactful and inclusive.
A key priority at the CCCA is to bridge the gap between research and practice. We are focused on developing solutions that are not only theoretically sound but also practically viable. This involves close collaboration with policymakers, industry leaders, and community organizations to translate our research into actionable strategies that can be implemented on the ground. By doing so, we aim to contribute to the resilience and sustainability of communities in Kenya, across Africa, and around the world.
Beyond our research and policy work, the CCCA is committed to playing a pivotal educational role within KCA University and beyond. We aim to raise awareness about climate issues and empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to take meaningful action. Whether through integrating climate change topics into our curriculum, hosting workshops and seminars, or providing resources for sustainable living, the CCCA will be at the forefront of climate education.
I invite all members of the KCA University community, along with our partners and stakeholders, to join us in this critical mission. Climate change is a challenge that affects us all, and only through collective action can we hope to address it effectively. Together, we can make a difference, and I am confident that the Center for Climate Change Action will serve as a catalyst for positive change.
